LOFT Community Service’s response to novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
As a partner of LOFT, we know that you care about the clients we serve so we are updating you on our response.

The health and safety of our clients, staff, volunteers and supporters are of utmost importance. As an agency serving some of the most vulnerable members in the community, we are following the direction and guidelines provided by local and provincial Public Health agencies, as well as the Ontario Ministry of Health and the Government of Canada.

In addition to our usual infection prevention and control practices, we have implemented additional practices in response to COVID-19. Details are found on our website at www.loftcs.org.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

If you are a volunteer or have loved ones at our locations, we are asking you to postpone your visit if you are feeling unwell.

Essential visitor restriction

As of March 14, at the recommendation of Chief Medical Officer of Health David Williams, all seniors and 24/7 supportive housing locations will only allow “essential” visitors until further notice. Essential visitors are defined as those who have a resident who is dying or very ill. We apologize for any inconvenience and ask for your understanding. This is done out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our clients who are most at-risk.

Essential services and social distancing

LOFT has a comprehensive business continuity plan. Beginning March 16, our administrative office will implement our essential services protocol and will practice social distancing. This is done out of care and concern for our front-line program team vital to the care of our clients, as well as the rest of our community. This includes working remotely, staff working over the full 7 day week, conducting virtual meetings, increased cleaning of high touch areas, handwashing protocol and screening staff and visitors if they are feeling unwell. Physical reception hours will be reduced to 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can expect that your calls will still be answered during regular business hours.

If you have made a recent donation, we will continue to provide your printed tax receipt in a timely manner. If you have provided your email to us, we will email your receipt promptly. Should you have any questions in regards to philanthropy, please contact us at fundraising@loftcs.org.

416 Community Support for Women

To maintain the health and safety of you and our staff, the 416 Community Support for Women’s drop-in program will be closed as of 9 a.m. on Monday March 16, 2019 until further notice. It was not an easy decision, however it is in alignment with the guidelines provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health. Our staff will be on-site to answer phone calls from 10am-3pm and caring for clients by phone. We will ensure essential medication support is provided and the team is designing a plan for continued food provision.

Thank you for your understanding. We continue to monitor the situation closely and recognize that the circumstances are fluid. We will be updating any changes on our website at www.loftcs.org.

Gratefully,
